Sin City Infestation... With A Learner's Permit?!

This series must be read in order. The first book is The Accidental Demon Slayer. This is the second book.

Lizzie barely escaped the second layer of Hell with her soul intact a scant twon weeks ago and had to give Dimitri a part of her demon slayer essence just so he wouldn't up and die on her... Like that won't come back to bite her in the ass? Worst part is she has no clue how to tell him and it's eating her up inside. On top of that fun guilt trip she's racing against the clock to save her Uncle who just happenes to be the fairy godfather she didn't know she had from his evil succubus fiancée Serena before it's too late. He was always there for her even if she didn't know it and she owes him BIGTIME! But first she must pass the Demon Slayer Liscencing Exam before she will be allowed into Las Vegas .... Or they will shoot her on sight! What else can go wrong? Knowing Lizzie I'd say plenty!!!

This book is another fantastically snarky romp through the world of biker witches and demon slayers! The action and adventure are as nonstop and in your face as the never ending mysteries that spawn them. The humor can het a bit low brow at times but it's all in good fun :) Pirate never shuts up and he love story gets a bit twisted but all in all this book os better than the last and haw left me craving A Tale of Two Demon Slayers, An Urban Fantasy Romance (Biker Witches Mystery Book 3) the next book with a vengeance! I can't wait to read it!

I Am A WHAT Now!?

This series must be read in order. This is the first book.

Lizzie is turning the big 3-0. She is trying to get ready for her big birthday party where *gasp* an actual cute guy she actually screwed up the nerve to ask out is waiting for her with all her friends...until the fateful knock on her apartment door. On the other side is a crazy old biker lady purporting to be her actual birth Grandma and saying some crap about her being a demon slayer of all things... just before she locks Lizzie in her own bathroom. Yeah she's always felt out of place and a little bit bored with her adoptive high society family.. But when she wanted to find out about her roots and her birth family this is NOT what she had in mind! But when an actual demon shows up and she accidentally vanquishes it the die is cast and she must run for her life with the very woman she thinks is crazy and impossible. She grabs her dog Pirate and they are off on an adventure she never could have imagined in her darkest nightmares!

Filled with action and adventure this quirky paranormal romance is definitely a one of a kind coming of age story. Between the mysteries and intrigues you never know who to trust or what will happen next! The snarky ancient biker witches with their roadkill magic and their eccentric ways are a great comedic foil for the nonstop thrills and chills of Lizzie's awakening to her higher purpose of becoming THE demon slayer she must become to save herself and the world from Vald the demon who pretty much wants to eat her alive and drain her powers. I really loved this book and can't wait to read the next one The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers, An Urban Fantasy Romance (Biker Witches Mystery 2) just to see what happens!

Waking The Ancients

This series must be read in order. The first book is The Withering Palace. The second book is Evangeline. The third book is Ever Shade. The fourth book is Ever Fire. The fifth book is Ever Winter. The sixth book is The Cursed. This is the seventh book. I can't wait to read History Of Fire!

Shade is still reeling from the death of her mother Jade. It seems like all she has known since finding Faerie is loss of one kind or another. The loss of her humanity. The loss of her simple normal life. The loss of new friends and old. On top of that is the betrayals she has had to deal with. How can she ever trust anyone?! At least she still has her brothers and sister. She would never be able to cope without them! Being engaged to Dylan is also a boon. Between the promise and their blood bond the link between them could not be stronger. Now she just needs to defeat Arthas (the Unseelie Ancient), Aveta (the Unseelie Queen), Evangeline (her evil Aunt who leads the Unseelie Army) and the whole of the Unseelie Army. No pressure. On top of that she must find her ancestress Kilara (the Summer Ancient) and wake her so that they even have a chance of winning. Will she be able to find Kilara in time? Or will all the Wards between Faerie and the human world fall before she has a chance? Can she accomplish everything she has set out to? Or will she fail due to betrayal again? Can she trust Corb? Will they all survive? Will they win?

Rise Of The Cursed King

This series must be read in order. The first book is The Withering Palace. The second book is Evangeline. The third book is Ever Shade. The fourth book is Ever Fire. The fifth book is Ever Winter. This is the sixth book. I can't wait to read Ever Wrath!

Arthas is the Unseelie Ancient. He was cursed by the other three ancients Spring, Summer and Winter into an eternal sleep. Aveta (his however many greats granddaughter) woke him with her blood. Now he is free and plotting revenge. He will stop at nothing to pay back those who betrayed him... And rule all of Faerie and the human world. Will he be avenged? What is so special about Shade? Will he become the supreme ruler of the world as he feel is his right? What would that even look like?

This book is a flashback set between the events of Ever Fire and Ever Winter explaining how and why the things Aveta accomplished were within her abilities. It is best read after Ever Winter to preserve the story lines and avoid major spoilers! Happy reading!

This series must be read in order. The first book is The Withering Palace. The second book is Evangeline. The third book is Ever Shade. The fourth book is Ever Fire. This is the fifth book. I can't wait to read The Cursed!

Shade is trying to recover from her ordeal in the Unseelie Court. Darren's torture is incredibly hard to come back from. So there is that. Also she seems to have lost her magic and she is always cold... Will she ever be okay again? What happened to her magic? Will she ever feel whole again? Or will she remain broken and frozen inside and out despite the best efforts of Dylan and Soap? Has Aveta already won by destroying Shade?

This series must be read in order. The first book is The Withering Palace. The second book is Evangeline. The third book is Ever Shade. This is the fourth book. I can't wait to read Ever Winter to find out what happens next!

Shade is learning to be fae. Her training is rigorous and multifaceted. Dylan is bound to her and she to him... But Soap still intrigues her. Brisa is away at college and all Shade does is train. She is spoken of heavily in Prophecy but does not understand what could possibly be so special about a halfbreed like her. How will she ever learn enough to survive in Faerie with so many powerful enemies? Why does Prince Lotinar insist she meet him to cement the alliance with the Seelie Queen? Why does everyone rely upon her and think she is so special? After all, she is only mortal, isn't she?

Unwitting Faerie Princess

This series must be read in order. The first book is The Withering Palace. The second book is Evangeline (A Dark Faerie Tale #0.5). This is the third book.

Shade knows she is different but she had no clue why. She lives with her brothers and her sister and her mom and they all seem incredibly normal. Even her dad who died a few years ago was normal... But not Shade... She hears voices that force her to do their bidding... And they always want odd things. But life is okay. She has her family and Brisa. Everything is just fine until one day the voices force her into an abandoned building and she meets Evangeline and Jack... Who and what exactly are they? What are the voices that control her life? Will she ever be able to fit in anywhere and feel normal?

This is an awesome coming of age modern fairytale with dark edges and plenty of twists! It is mysterious and suspenseful along with being highly addictive. There is a lot of humor too interspersed with all the action and adventure. I think any fairytale lover would enjoy is as well as paranormal enthusiasts and fantasy buffs. I can't wait to see what is next for Shade and the gang in Ever Fire (A Dark Faerie Tale #2) as it is sure to be both mystifying and amusing!

It All Starts Somewhere

This series must be read in order. The first book is The Withering Palace. This is the second book.

This is an awesome beginning to what I am sure will be an addictive series! Jade and Evangeline are half sisters who grew up together in a house on the edge of faerie. They are both Elemental Fire Witches with one small difference... Evie is half fey. This causes her to get Iron Sickness and migraines and to constantly cravw the woods just outside their yard... Until one day the allure is too strong for her to resist so Jade and Evie venture forth into Faerie and their fates are sealed.... They just don't know it yet.

I really liked this book and I feel it adds a much needed layer of motivation for the characters in the later books. Without reading it I believe you would miss all the subtle nuances in the later books completely! I can't wait to start Ever Shade (A Dark Faerie Tale #1) next! This is definitely modern fantasy at its best!

A Brave New Hippie Dippy World?

This novella is set in a dystopian world where any real scientific advancement is criminalized as treason. A romance editor is married to a research geneticist ... What could possibly go wrong? Enter one personal robot assistant and the whole world falls apart!

This fantastic voyage into the extremis of a new world order that denied science as having any benefit is a comedy in the absurd! I loved this novella for its originality and quirky humor. I would definitely read more books by this author!

I was a bit annoyed at her mispronunciation of a few words that were used regularly (ie scythe) but overall Sofia Willingham's performance was pretty good. Her portayals of the characters were very interesting and lent a depth of emotion I am sure I would have missed had I just read the book. The terror she conveyed was palpable as was the menace from certain characters.

Rise Of The Headless Horseman?

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Sleepy Hollow is a town unlike any other. It is plagued with hauntings of all kinds. There is the legendary Headless Horseman as well as many other more mundane ones. The wailing woman in white they resolved but many others they have not. Why is Sleepy Hollow so haunted? Who hurried the Hessian? Will they ever be able to banish him for good? Or will the Headless Horseman forever stalk the town and its residents?

The first victim of the Headless Horseman (this time around) was the schoolteacher Nicholas. Whatever his past, he was a kind man and a good teacher. Noone knows why he was targeted or the nature of his offense. Who will be the next target? What is the Horseman's connection to Katrina? Is anyone safe?

Other than a few oddly repeated lines I truly enjoyed Rachel Ahrens' performance of this book. It could be a glitch in my Audible App or even a typo within the script that she read from. I will definitely be looking for more titles narrated by her and sincerely hope she continues on with this series as she seems to be an amazing fit!

Love Crosses Any Alchemical Divide

This series does not need to be listened to (or read) in order as it consists of stories just based in the same world and not necessarily connected to each other via plot or storyline. This is the fourth book based in this world. Personally though, since this book seems to be the first book chronologically, I would suggest starting with this book as I did :) I can't wait to read more books set within this world!

Greta lives in her own world of imagination and discovery. The outside world truly does not interest her unless it impacts her Alchemical experiments. She really only cares about her best friend from childhood, Kit, a Tinker. Together they build amazing things. They are both geniuses in their respective fields. When Kit tells her he has something to say she freaks out completely and retreats (thinking he is leaving for a lucrative position) not even bothering to listen to even one word. What did he want to tell her? Where is he? What happened to him? Can she find him? Save him?

Kit needs to save his best friend... Even from herself. He has loved her since the first moment they met. Now her father is threatening to sell her to the highest bidder out in the wilder parts of the continent... She would never survive! He has made her the most perfect ring and now all he has to do is convince her to marry him. He could make her happy. He just knows it! Will he be able to make her listen? Will she agree to marry him? Or is he not what she wants? Can he save her from all the dangers in their world?

Filled with mystery, action and adventure this amazing fantasy was a truly unique telling of the archetype Snow Queen tale! The setting and world suck you in and immerse you in a world more fanciful than ever existed in our plane of existence. It is a treat for anyone who loves fairytales, fantasy, steampunk or historical fiction.

Mystery Inheritance?

This seems to be a stand alone novel. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Tammy is a Tyree. That means no one thinks much of her. Her family's reputation is enough to keep her down for the most part. Working at Two Spoons gives her access to email. Learning of an inheritance through her email both excites her and causes her trepidation. How will she come up with $500 for the fees? Will she be found worthy by Dr. Barinas? Or will she lose her inheritance to some less worthy relative?

Getting Dirty Getting Dirty by Erin Nicholas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Small Town Infatuation

This series must be read in order. The first book is Getting Out Of Hand. The second book is Getting Worked Up. This is the third book.

Lauren feels that Sapphire Falls is a trap. She must not love the town. She left small towns behind in her rearview when she ran out of the small town she went to high school in and went straight on to Europe. She is a city girl! She enjoys sophistication and glamorous clothing! Travel and gourmet food! Not jeans and the same people and things to do day in and day out! Or at least that is what she tells herself to try and get over her escalating crush on Sapphire Falls... She definitely needs to stay far away from the good ole boy farmer Travis. Men like him are her kryptonite!

Travis is content in his life. He has his farm and his family and his friends. The only thing missing is a good woman to settle down with. But no one had ever quite been the right fit. Travis loves working with IAS and their products and equipment and knows that Mason and his company have been a huge boon to his beloved town and all the family farms in it. Their techniques and government money not to mention awesome new crops are really making life better. It's just that Lauren with her haughty and condescending ways just rubs him the wrong way. He really wants to teach her a lesson she won't soon forget.. The only problem is his nearly overpowering attraction to her.

This book had me laughing so loudly and often my sister kept asking me if I was feeling okay! It is fun and flirty and totally an engrossing read. I didn't understand how these two could possibly ever fit together but the way Nicholas has written it was breathtaking! I loved every minute of this book and cannot wait for the next one to come out!

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy detailed steamier than steamy plotcentric sex scenes in their small town contemporary romances with real world issues and ALWAYS a HEA for her very loveable and realistic characters :)

Marriage Pacts Go Awry...

This series MUST be read in order! The first book is Getting Out Of Hand. This is the second book.

Phoebe is in love with Matt... She has been (or thinks she has) for at least the last three years if not her whole life. They make sense... He's the king to her queen of the most liked in town. There is just one tiny little problem... He has gone and fallen in love with Braniac Barbie (ie Nadia) and has already informed her he is going to be proposing at the town festival which is right around the corner! How will she make him see the error of his ways and make him marry her instead?!

Joe has had enough. Enough of crazy over the top women and his jet setting ways... Enough of waking up in strange places alone and with no idea where he is or how he got there. And just in time it seems as Nadia (who has ALWAYS been in love with him) has informed him she is in love with Matt and is going to propose to him. He had his wild year and he is ready to settle down with her and get married like they had planned... How did their plans go wrong?! Does she not care about him anymore?! He has come to Sapphire Falls to stop her from making a huge mistake and ruining both of their lives.

I love how everyone in Sapphire Falls is always looking out for each other (if the help is wanted or not!) And always has everyone's best interests at heart! I have never personally found a town like it but I know others that have and am really glad these places do actually exist :) This is a well thought out and heartwarming series that will suck you in and keep you wanting more! And I sure do want (make that NEED) more and will be anxiously awaiting the next book I am sure to devour in less than a day (again as I have no self control-who needs sleep anyways?) As I did with this one! It really was awesome even if I am still firmly in Club Mason! HeHe good luck replacing him Ms. Nicholas!

Out Of Left Field

This series must be read in order. This is the first book.

Mason seems to have gotten over the humiliations of his past in the small town of Sapphire Hills, Nebraska as he is now an ĂĽber confident suave man who knows what he wants and how to get it. But then why is he so reluctant to go show the people he grew up with just how far he has come? When his partner and best friend in the world tells him she needs a break from him and his workaholic ways so she can spend some quality time with her girlfriend Alex and that he should take the opportunity of the alumni weekend to check out the farm he inherited over 2 whole years ago he is adamant there is no reason he needs to go home...ever. He will go but not there! Not ever!

Hailey is used to getting what she wants and she has a plan...Unfortunately for Adrienne this means getting Mason on board with the Sapphire Hills project but she feels that using people is wrong and above all she wants no drama! After her heart attack she came to Sapphire Falls to live a healthy laid back stress free life. She doesn't date and she doesn't drink so when Mason pays $300 for a few dances with her she KNOWS she's in trouble bigtime! Back in town 5 minutes and he's already causing more excitement and drama than she can handle!

This is a great start to what looks to be another awesome small town contemporary romance series by Nicholas. It is full of amazing supporting characters and the humorous hijinks I have come to know and love from her numerous other books. Nicholas can always by counted on to provide originality in each story even though the tone of her books is always fun and flirty. She deals with real life problems in heartwarming and unique ways that give hope that no matter what your issues or problems there is always room for love! I can't WAIT for Getting Worked Up!!!

***NOT for the homophobic or closedminded***

Sensing her family life was as screwed up and damaging as his had been brought out his protective instincts and her choosing him over everything was a huge ego boost. Too bad he ruined it all. Kerri McCann really has made Mira her own! I love the way she portrays her now. Full of hope and yet resigned to the reality that she just might lose and lose her life and all her friends' lives in the process. All the characters show a depth of emotion I would surely miss altogether if I was just reading the book. I can't wait to listen to more! I will definitely be looking for more titles narrated by her and I fervently hope she continues on with this series!

Betrayal At Every Turn

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. The first book is Initiation. The second book is Dissension. The third book is Complication. I can't wait to listen to Transition!

She needs to keep her Human friends safe and she needs to go back and rescue the rest of the imprisoned Vampires. She can't do that all on her own... Not entirely. She trust her Human friends (especially Lucian) and Stryker and his Pack of Wolf Shifters but that's about it. She NEEDS to keep her promise to George! Will the rest of the Vampires agree to fight in the war against their Human captors once they are free? Will the Council keep their promises? Can she trust them to do what is in the best interest of everyone and not just themselves? Will she die while trying to free the enslaved Vampires?

Full of action and intrigue this series just keeps on getting more intense! You never know what will happen next or who you can trust. Mira grows more and more complex as she discovers more about herself as a Free Vampire and comes to care deeply for more and more people. It is a coming of age story full of hope, pragmatism and sarcastic humor that will keep you enthralled and entertained from beginning to end!

LC Kane's performance creates an atmosphere that is impossible to ignore or discount. You travel Ana's road with her every step of the way. From confusion and disinterest, to pure joy and abject terror, the enthrallment is complete and all encompassing. It was a tension soaked thrill ride and I can't wait to listen to more :) I will be continuing on with this series and also be looking for more by this talented narrator!

The Darkness Within And Without

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first real book. There are ancillary books that may be listened to (or read) at any time but I suggest leaving them for later! This is THE place to start! I can't wait to listen to Shattered!

Ana has never had a meaningful relationship with anyone really... Except her cousin Nick. They grew up together, from the nursery on, as almost siblings and best friends. Or maybe more... Noone has ever gotten through her outer shell other than him. Not even her father, Augustus, holds a bigger place in her heart. He is her calm, her rock and the only person who accepts her as she is. Too bad she betrayed them all and had to run far away to Maine, and her house on Summer Island, to minimize the damage to her whole world. Being away from him is hard. But they talk every day. At least she has Alex, the faithful and helpful caretaker of her house, to help her out and teach her what she needs to know. Why is everyone so against her? Can she ever win them over? Do they realize she is different from them in the most fundamental way? Who is the guy who always smiles and waves to her? Can she survive the winter alone on the island?

Finn is drawn to the Deschanel girl in a way he doesn't really understand, even as his brother John, is repulsed. But John doesn't like anyone ... So no surprise there. Being a fisherman is his life and all he wants. Or at least that is what he always thought. Having her as their closest neighbor hasn't helped him keep his distance. Should he introduce himself finally? Or leave well enough alone? Is she worth the chance of upsetting the careful order of their lives?

Filled with Southern Gothic themes even while set on a remote Maine island, this paranormal suspense thriller is filled with unconventional romance and plenty of mystery. It is a late coming of age story for the unlikely heroine of this family saga filled with darkness, horror and hope. A truly one of a kind experience that can't missed!

***This series is suitable for adult listeners (or readers) who enjoy dark paranormal fantasy with Southern Gothic mores and conflicted villians (who hide behind kindness) with touches of romance, family secrets and plenty of thrills, mystery, suspense and horror while still allowing for hope :)

Elaine feels like her world is wrong. Her sister is getting married and moving away. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if X had not abandoned her after declaring his love. How is she supposed to be happy for her sister when she is all she has left?! There is no way she can deal with the betrayal and deceit all around her. Can she make herself be happy for her sister long enough to get her married off and far away from the mess that her life has become? Will she ever see X again? Why did he abandon her? Was their love another lie? Did all they accomplished mean nothing? How is she supposed to live this empty life after she had so much? Will she be safe from the Society? Will her sister?

Xavier has been solely focused on the Society. His entrance, acceptance, and rise to power. He feels he must dismantle them from the inside. His first priority is to keep Elaine safe. Unfortunately his single minded focus has almost lost him the one thing he craves... His Queen. Struggling to convince her of his intentions while still shielding her from the Society he comes up with a desperate plan. He will make her his Subject so she will be inviolate and therefore safe from meddling and harm. Will she agree to his rash plan? Will she still love him after it is all said and done? Will the Society keep to their rules and leave her be? Will something go wrong and destroy them all?

This psychological thriller thrives on subtleties and intrigue. Just when you think you know everything ... The rules change. Polyamory and Bisexuality are explored in great detail showing both the benefits and drawbacks of a larger than two person relationship :) Filled with erotic moments this book will keep you on edge of your seat!

This was not my favorite performance by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross, but only because they seemed to struggle a bit with the foreign words and accents. For all I know it could be that the words were not the ones I thought they were. It is hard to know for sure without any written component to check against. Otherwise the performance was very good. Maybe I am a snob and expect too much lol. Lumikki is moving on with her life. Or at least trying to. She has her own place, friends, a new boyfriend and is doing well at her new school. Being a "hero" is odd for her... Especially as she has so many unanswered questions from her time in Prague. Who is stalking her? Did she really have an older sister? What are her parents hiding from her and why? Why is Blaze back and what does he want from her?

This was an amazing conclusion to a great series! I am a bit sad it is over but the ending wrapped things up nicely. Trying To Escape

This series must be read in order. The first book is As Red As Blood. This is the second book.

After all the drama of busting up Polar Bear's crime ring and her parents' regression to over protectiveness Lumikki's had enough! She decides to make a quick getaway and vacation in Prague... She can just relax and play tourist... Until she meets a strange girl named Lenka who swears that she is her half sister... Only problem is that as far as she knows neither of her parents had ever been to Prague... Why would they hide that from her? Is this girl really her sister? And if not why would she pretend she is? Why is her family so secretive? What are they hiding?

This book still hints at supernatural undertones along with all the mystery, thrills ,and suspenseful adventures :) I really love this series especially as it is incredibly easy to get sucked into because the characters are so dynamic and complex. Lesley Ann Fogle kept her performance upbeat and hopeful showcasing Lucy's truly good heart and caring for all those around her. She made it clear that Lucy truly was trying to do the best thing for everyone even if she was just an imposter. I couldn't stop laughing at all her antics and hijinks. I will definitely be looking for more performances by her :)

Her uncle never recovered from their loss. Working as a cocktail waitress doesn't exactly pay the bills and when she gets fired she is desperate to find a new job that pays well. Thanks job she found seems odd and too good to be true but if she wants to keep her uncle out of County she needs real money yesterday! How can she possibly pull off impersonating a Princess-In-Waiting? Will she fool the Crown Prince of Fredonia enough to make the switch with Lady Elizabeth at the proper time? Or will she bungle it all and lose her job and Elizabeth her crown?

After all she is meant to wed the Crown Prince of Fredonia and save the country and the royal family! He is more and more drawn to her as time passes. Review: Reluctant

Reluctant Reluctant by Marla Josephs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jaime Lamchick's performance brings this poignant and uplifting romance to life illustrating both the reluctance and excitement of the characters very well. Between grief and awe and every emotion in between you are drawn into the characters' lives for the whole rollercoaster ride of ups and downs as they work through their issues and expectations until they find a stable reality. I really enjoyed the listen and will probably listen again before I listen to the next one when it comes out!

Finding Life Through The Grief

This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to Forbidden!

Fallon has spent the past two years of her life helping her exMarine father fight cancer. The last year of which she pretty much was just taking care of him and helping him die.with dignity. She has nothing left to give. Shelton (her pseudo brother/cousin) won't let her be alone now that her father is gone. And neither will her adopted brother and sister Nick and Alexa... So she has finally caved to pressure and is taking a trip to stay with them for the foreseeable future. She can take care of herself! But with the grief from losing her father and whatever this stomach thing she has going on... She is tired of fighting. Finding a sexy as sin man servicing a woman on the kitchen counter in Alexa's house is soo not what she signed up for! Who is he? Why is he there? Why won't he leave? Why does he look so familiar?

Doing Nick a favor and stocking Alexa's house with food for her imminent guest seems like the perfect time to have a little harmless fun with one of his groupie girls. That way she can't find him later. And it has been quite a while. After Reid's last relationship turned out to be with a heartless lossdigger he is not looking for anything but casual sex with a woman who wants nothing else. But he also doesn't want any surprises! Seeing Fallon, he at first thinks she is some groupie who has followed him. Too bad he's totally wrong... And totally intrigued! She is the last person he could ever have something casual with, being part of the family! Why is he so drawn to her? Can he resist their mutual attraction? Should he even try? Why does she have such a hold over him? Why is she so determined to not give them a chance?

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy chicklit contemporary romances with a poignant back story and an uplifting message of healing after loss as well as strong independent people learning how to be everything to each other while still remaining themselves and part of a loving cohesive group :)

A Deadly Obsession A Deadly Obsession by Melanie James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bailey Varness brought this story to life so well I had to take breaks while listening because the villain made me twitch so bad! His madness and cruelty were palpable. Jenny's indomitable spirit also shined through clear and bright :) Never before have I rooted against the bad guy so vehemently! It was a great listen and I will definitely be looking for more of her performances :)

In The Crosshairs Of A Madman

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. The first book is A Valentine's Surprise. This is the second book. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next one!

Jenny has always been watched over. Both her brother Adam and his partner Jake have always been there to protect her. Too bad protection isn't what she really wants from Jake! She knows it's wrong... But Jake is the only man she has ever wanted. How will she ever get him to see her as the real life grown up woman she is? Someone worthy and deserving of the love she knows he is capable of giving? If she succeeds will her brother ever forgive them?

Jake knows Jenny has feelings for him but he is so not worthy of her. His family alone would bring her no end of misery. He can't bring himself to tell her the truth of his upbringing much less how he truly feels about her. Someone so innocent should be far away from him after all. Will he be able to keep her safe? Even from himself? Or is he doing her more harm than good by denying her? Will they ever work things out?

Unbeknownst to the main characters Jenny is being stalked. The madman is just biding his time, waiting to snatch her when the time is right. Will the stalker get his way and grab his prize? Or will her protectors realize the threat in time?

***This series is suitable for adult listeners (or readers) who enjoy chiclitish contemporary romances with a few mild taboos as well as loads of suspense and thrills and a sweet mildly old fashioned hero who still brings a lot of steam to the love scenes leading to a HEA :)
