Meghan truly brings out Mira's sardonic wit and feelings of entrapment. Her performance lends real life to all the characters making them all individualized. I am not sure I would have understood the truth desperation involved without her renderings. I will definitely be looking for more of her work and truly hope she continues on with this series :)

Defiant And Unbroken

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. The first book is Initiation. This is the second book. I can't wait to listen to Complication!

Mira has been a slave in the Arena for 30 years. Fighting as a Gladiator she is undefeated. Probably the only reason she is still alive. After all she takes nothing from anyone no matter who they are. She has even tried to escape innumerable times... Attacked gaurds... You name it. She will not be meek and accept her Fate! She knows that one of these days she will escape... Or die trying. Will she ever escape? Will she get her friend out with her? Is her determination just a pipe dream? Or will she lose her next fight and be put to death? Why is she so set upon doing the impossible?

Lucian is both shocked and intrigued after meeting Mira. He knows that all he has been raised to believe is wrong just from one short meeting. He feels drawn to Mira and her unbroken indomitable spirit. He needs to keep her safe. Will she help him with his secret plans? Or will his attachment to her be discovered? Will she cause him to lose favor and be removed from power? Will she be the death of them both?

This was my first experience with Michael Levine and Erin deWard ’s performance and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Michael is very good at accents and that lent another layer to his characters. Erin has a very good grasp at conveying myriad emotions. Overall I don't think any other pair of narrators could have pulled this off as well. I hope they continue to work together until the end of the series :)

In The Blood

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. The first book is Imposter's Kiss found at Chapter 22 in the Audible Audio Edition. This is the second book. I can't wait to listen to Between The Waters!

Thinking Cyril (the love of her life) dead (since he died in her arms) or a figment of her imagination (as Michael told her) Linden moved on with her life. She recovered from her coma under Michael's care. Eventually he talked her into marrying him... With disastrous results. She woke up in bed with him dead next to her (they had consummated their marriage) the next morning. She vowed never to have sex or love again. Everything changes th e night of the Symphony Fund Raiser when her dead love walks into the room. Can he truly be alive? How? What is he? Why doesn't he remember her? Will being with him kill him again? Or is he exempt?

Cyril has no idea how the gorgeous creature in front of him gained his blood! He has no memory of her whatsoever! She draws him to her like no other. It makes no sense! Is she a trap carefully laid for him by his many enemies? Is she a cruel joke played upon him by the Gods? His Goddess? How can she be immune to his Curse? Could she possibly be his Light?

I love this series :) If I hadn't read it in order I would have been totally lost. I really enjoyed this book (though I wanted to kick Lana a few times) I wasn't at all disappointed in the storyline as it flowed well from the first book seamlessly :) A lot of times second books lose the momentum of the first but that was not the case here at all. Cole and Lana are great characters and I love how they interact.... No matter what it is always them against the world :) Insurmountable odds are beatable only because the strength of two becoming one is stronger than anything!

I was disappointed when this book was finished. I wanted more... The characters were real and totally likable. The action was fast paced and had good flow. The sex scenes were so well integrated into the plot the story could not have done without them. I can't see this book as erotica but that is not a bad thing. I guess if you wanted to it could be classed as tame erotica but personally I don't see it. Overall I would class this book as exceptional paranormal romance or maybe urban fantasy. This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to read Monsters!

I adored this original new take on Loki :) Instead of being the dark evil being most portray him as C. Gockel shows the god's mischievous trickster side instead. Loki is one of the most misunderstood gods in the Norse pantheon.

The action and adventure kept me on the edge of my seat right until the end of this book. I have never been more amused by a god hiding in plain sight. It is totally believable (and more scary than I want to admit) the thought of Loki hiding among us and interfering in our little lives. I can't wait to read the rest of this series! Dream Kisses Dream Kisses by Verna Clay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

•••I listened to the Audible Audio Edition of this book•••

The narrator was incredibly expressive and brought the story to life with all of the myriad emotions from each and every character! It was a really fun listen and I ended up listening to it all in one day! I just couldn't stop :) I will definitely read (or listen to) more books by this author and I will definitely be seeing what else this narrator has done so I can listen to her again :)

The Romance Writer And The Model Cowboy?

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to (or read) Honey Kisses!

Mims is a famous romance novelist who is kind of sour on love. She believes in it for her characters... Just not a plain Jane like herself. Meeting the cover model Sage from her books sends her info a bit of a tailspin. Her editor and his joke on her just was not amusing! Now she can't write. Needing to finish her book, she books six long weeks at a dude ranch hoping to find real-life inspiration and insight into her modern chicklit western romance. Too bad Fate is conspiring against her! Will she make it to the ranch? Will she get her book written on time? Will she survive the lack of civilization?

Sage hates being a sex symbol. Too bad it pays the bills. What can he do? He has to make a living somehow to keep his ranch and all the land. How did Mims end up on his ranch as a dude? Is someone playing a joke on them? All he knows is that she intrigues him. Will they get along? Or will he lose a paying guest and a cover model job in one fell swoop? Will he win her over? Or send running back to the city?

***This series is suitable for adult listeners (or readers) who enjoy modern romance with chicklit overtones in a western setting filled with fun and second chances while learning to love again and move past tragedies of the past :)

Review: Reign of Blood

Reign of Blood Reign of Blood by Alexia Purdy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Zombie Vampire Plague Takes Vegas

This series must be read in order. The first book is Resonant. This is the second book.

April is supposed to be worrying about things like college and dances and good grades... But that was the old world. At almost 18 she has spent a year taking care of her mother and 6 year old little brother... Survival is killing zombie zampire hives and scavenging for food, medicine, weapons other supplies. Most days are the same. Drive into Vegas and scrounge for supplies(killing any vampires she might find) and hurry back to the van so they can get back to the bunker before sunset... Then take shifts on watch all night long. April longs for adventure... Or maybe just another actual person... Until the day her world is ripped apart.

Full of gripping suspense and nonstop action this is an awesome post apocalyptic distopian series. There is a smidge of romance to enhance the chilling thriller atmosphere of the book. I was very happy with the world Purdy created for her vampire plague and it's survivors. I will totally be reading Disarming (Reign of Blood #2) next!

Review: Artemis Rising

Artemis Rising Artemis Rising by Cheri Lasota
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

•••I listened to the Audible Audio Edition of this book•••

The narrator has an incredibly expressive voice and is extremely talented at voice acting. I felt like I WAS Eva and not just witness to her trials and tribations. I would definitely both listen to more work by this amazing narrator and read or listen to more books by this inventive and talented author! I hope they work together again in the future as they do so well together :)

To Myth Or Not To Myth

This is a stand alone novel. I wish there were more!

Eva has been raised to dedicate herself to Artemis as Arethusa just as her mother did before her. To become the myth personified in service to the Moon. The Goddess sends her a warning though her mother received a different vision. Which is the true vision? Should she continue on the path her mother laid before her or follow her instincts and find her own way? Is the way of the Goddess the right way? Does she even have a choice anymore?

Diogo is rich and spoiled and used to getting everything he wants. Except from his cruel and forbidding father. Eva intrigues him and he wants her for his own. At first he is merely trying to protect her. To woo her. But after he is maimed in her defense by his father something overtakes him. She becomes his obsession. Will he win? Will he own her in the end? Or will his twisted drives destroy them both?

Tristao has never know a father's love or a mother's kindness. He sees something in Arethusa that he has been waiting for his whole life... Hope. Finding her and rescuing her seems to be Fate. Is she the answer to his prayers? The girl who will share his life and give him the love he missed as a child? Will she help him get rid of his anger at his father's disinterest and abandonment? At the mysterious absence of his mother. Will she make him into something other than the favored oldest orphan?

***This book is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy stories of the Old Gods filled with mystery, intrigue, Myth, action, adventure, supernatural forces, magic, mayhem and horror but, most of all, romance and the search for truth and true love despite Destiny or Fate :)

A Second Chance At Love: Football Style

This is a fun chicklit series that centers around a professional football team and second chances both at love and at life. The characters are likeable and relatable as well as believable. There is plenty of humor and a lot of steamy love scenes to keep any contemporary romance lover happy! I really enjoyed the listening experience and hope the author finds a reason to continue the series as I am not quite ready to leave this world yet. Each book has its own HEA,

The Owner's Socialite Daughter And The Born Again Quarterback?

This series must be listened to(or read) in order. The first book is Playing For Keeps. The second book is Going For It. The third book is Huddle Up. This is the fourth book. I hope she writes more of this series!

Liam hasn't been able to get Hayden out of his mind since Angel and Billy's wedding! You think he'd be able to resist the resident partying bad girl now that he is a recovering alcoholic and "born again" but she tries his vow of celibacy nigh onto breaking. Will he be able to stay true to his beliefs and his faith while she is a constant form of temptation? Why does she attract him so? Could he have real feelings for the spoiled princess? Can he resist whatever is between them?

Hayden has always tried to win her father's love and approval to no avail. She covers for her "golden child" illegitimate younger brother no matter what the personal cost. After all no publicity is bad publicity. The worth of her own company goes up every time she is in the news... No matter the cause! Too bad nothing she can do will ever make her father truly proud of her. Liam both infuriates and attracts her. It makes no sense! Will she be able to corrupt him into giving her what she wants? Why is it so important to her? Or will she be able to make him run the other way? That is what she truly wants.. Isn't it? Why does she look forward to seeing him so much? Can he be what she has been missing? Or is this just another bad idea to get back at daddy and stay in the press? How could she want someone so different?

I loved this book! Reeves makes you care about her characters as much as she does. It is well written and the story moves with a life of it's own :) My only complaint is I wished it was longer because now i have to wait for the next one Baehrly Alive (Goldie Locke and the Were Bears Book #3) to come out to live in Goldie's world again :) Elizabeth A Reeves is definitely an author to watch!

The Longlost Love And The Surprise Daughter

This series must be listened to(or read) in order. The first book is Playing For Keeps. The second book is Going For It. This is the third book. I can't wait to listen to The Quarterback Sneak!

Billy always felt like he must have been inadequate in the bedroom and that is why Angel dumped him. What other reason could she have possibly had? He never got over her... Hasn't even had a real relationship since. Now she is demanding a paternity test and child support for a child that she says is his! If Gabriella is his why didn't she tell him she was pregnant?! If she is just after money... Why didn't she come after him when he signed his first profootball contract and started making the big bucks? Why wait five years and then some? Why now? The timing means the kid COULD be his... Does he stand a chance at making them a real family? Will he be able to win her back?

Angel would not be asking Billy for anything at all if she had a choice! Her degenerate gambler father (besides withholding affection her entire life and making her break up with Billy in the first place) died and left her with nothing and a huge debt ontop of it. To give Gabby any kind of life, she now has to ask the man who didn't want her or their child to do right by them. Will they be able to come to terms for Gabby's sake? Or will there be a long drawn out court battle for support and custody? Will be try to take Gabby away from her?

Will he try and exploit her like all the others? How can her really care for her? How can she possibly be enough?

I LOVE this prelude to the Goldie series! I thought the introductions to the characters were very good. This book left me wanting more and i think that's what a prequel is for. •••I listened to the Audible Edition of this book•••

The performance contained within this audio book was varied and engaging evoking both happiness and grief as well as humor and frustration alternately. I believe books like this lend them self easily to narration as they are basically written for the stage already :) I look forward to more! Both from the author and this incredibly talented narrator :)

Whether To Wake Or Not To Wake

This book is a loosely strewn together collection of essays on a common theme in chronological order. I believe if to be a stand alone novel.

What I find most intriguing about this book is that it could be easily acted out as a play with little effort. There wouldn't need to be any real conversion of the work. It also could be used as audition pieces as each essay is really only person giving a monologue as per the premise of the book.

Gary is in a coma. His wife desperately wants him to wake up and rejoin the land of the living. She devises a plan to get various people from his life.to come and talk to him. She hopes that he will hear something that will make him want to wake up. She also records the conversations for later playback to Gary in case repetition helps to hasten the process. Will her plan succeed? Can her hear them? Will he wake up? Does he want to? Or will he die without ever waking up again?

***This book is suitable for adult readers who enjoy hopeful and dramatic novels full of joy, disappointment, humor and angst tempered with grief and paranormal aspects :)

Her father's death a year ago still overshadows everything for her, especially while driving the Shelby he painstakingly restored over a ten year period. A summer free of anything but them and fun in the Hamptons is just what she needs! Who is the incredibly confident guy who followed her into the store? Should she give him a real chance? Or should she just have a meaningless fling and forget him before she knows him?

Sean is determined to enjoy his last summer at home in the Hamptons. He will lifegaurd during the day and party all night! Maybe he will find another fun, rich, spoiled summer girl to break his heart and make leaving easier! Who is the gorgeous blond with the hot rod that has so captivated him? How (Not) to Play With Magic How (Not) to Play With Magic by Elizabeth A. Reeves
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Kissing Curse

This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to read How (Not) to Kiss a Toad!

This prequel is a really good introduction to the world Cindy lives in and the myriad cast of characters that make up her family and friends :) You definitely need to read this before you read book one but as it is a "snack" I can't see how that will be a problem... I can't wait until my children are better readers so I can introduce them to Cindy! This book is great entertainment no matter what your age :) Elizabeth breathes so much life into her characters that you can't help but fall in love with them right from the start! Enjoy!

***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy modern fantasy with a fractured fairytale vibe and magical mayhem with a dash of romance :)

Living In Fear

This is a stand alone novel.

I found this book highly disturbing. That said I also found it engrossing and impossible to put down :) I would think twice before allowing a child to read it but I would recommend it to all my adult friends. It was a very unique world with incredible characters that had me rooting for them until the very end. I just think the subject matter ls a bit too mature for most impressionable teens. I would love to read other books in this universe as I really enjoyed it and am kinda sad it is a stand alone instead of a series.

***This book is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy dystopian suspense thriller paranormal action adventures with plenty of horror and a dash of romance :)

Scary But Wonderful :)

This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait for the next one... More please!

I REALLY loved this book!!! The characters are very well written and engaging. There's a ton of suspense with a bit of romance and action thrown in. The editing was impeccable and it was really easy to read. This book illustrates every woman's nightmare vividly alongside every woman's dream. The contrast between the two is very intriguing... too bad not every girl with a stalker also finds a knight in shining armor. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised with how well this book kept my interest without all the cross genre bits :) It has been ages since i read straight thriller/suspense and if it was all like this I would read way more :) I can't wait to read more from this great author!!!

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy suspenseful romantic thrillers where the identify of the bad guy is murky at best and the newly adult heroine learns to trust herself through the horror and uncertainty :)

Pure Fantasy :)

This is (unfortunately) a stand alone novel.

I really enjoyed this book :) It is well written and the characters are very realistic. The world was beautiful and unique. The story line was full of twists and kept me guessing until the very end. It has been a while since I read anything that was pure fantasy genre because a lot of times they are hard to get into but that was not the case here. I just wish there were more books :( This book is a stand alone *sigh* but maybe if enough people complain Elizabeth will write more :) Coming of age meets sword and sorcery at its finest :)

***This book is suitable for adult readers who enjoy dark fantasy :)

A Very Original Selkie Story :)

This series must be read in order. The first book is Avow. This is the second book.

You should read Avow (A Last Selkie Short Story Prequel) first as it is the true backstory of this series :) I really loved this book a lot... the characters were unique and believable and the plot was very original. I really loved how all the characters were conflicted at their cores and their interactions were colored by their own internal issues. This story was very multidimensional yet easy to read :) I really hope she writes the next one soon as I can not wait to read it!

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy a modern take on mythological creatures in their fantasy romances :)

Short Sweet Prequel

This series must be read in order. This is the first book.

This book is more of a teaser that a short story but it is worth reading :) I would have been very confused if I had read Adrift (The Last Selkie) before I read this. Backstory is very important to any good series and this story provides it :) I really enjoyed it and had to read the next one right away :) Selkies are a very rare branch of faerie lore and it is nice to see them get their own series even if some people misunderstand them. Their one true love is the Sea and nothing can keep them from it for long.... unless you steal their pelt and hide it where they can not find it.

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy contemporary fantasy with a mythological twist :)
