Review: Love Burns

Love Burns Love Burns by Mandi Beck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

•••I listened to the Audible Audio Edition of this book•••

Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott truly made these characters enjoyable (even when you wanted to throttle them...) And brought the story to life. The way they play off each other is a real treat. Each character is portrayed as an individual, complete with quirks and mannerisms. This was a really fun listen and wrapped up the support very nicely. I can't wait to listen to what they do next!

Must Win The Princess

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. The first book is Love Hurts. This is the second, and final, book.

Reeling from the loss of one of their own everyone grieves in their own way. From self destructive behavior and recriminations to doubt and depression the characters experience all the stages of grief before finally finding their way to acceptance and moving on with their lives. The amount of growth from all the characters is awe inspiring and makes this book both uplifing and intense. It was a unique experience and I am truly glad I stuck with it :)

***This series is suitable for adult listeners (or readers) who enjoy MMA romantic thriller suspense with plenty of angst and violence as well as some intrigue and two characters who can't seem to get out of their own way most of the time but eventually leading to a HEA :)

The Price Of Magic

This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to read Mer-Charmer!

Sierra is a Fairy Keeper. She loved her mother but she died giving birth to her little sister Phoebe and now Phoebe is her life! She has one friend, another Keeper named Corbin who was lucky enough to be born to a family of Healers. Sadly, her father is a dark Alchemist who exploits her fairies and their nectar to create elixers like Flight. Sierra has always felt trapped by her Birthright of being a Fairy Keeper and is glad it skipped Phoebe. When her Queen disappears and she finds all the little fairies dead, Sierra is shocked. What could have happened? Who or what killed the fairies? Where is her Queen? Is she now free of her Keeper burden? Or will she have to find her Queen and resume her duties? What will her father do to her if she can't provide the Nectar? What will happen to her and Phoebe?

***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy apocalyptic fantasy set in a dystopian world where magic is dying due to the abuses of man filled with action, adventure, suspense, mystery, intrigue and a dash of romance :)

Review: Aspen

Aspen Aspen by Skye Knizley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Going Walkabout

••• NOT for the homophobic, transphobic or closed minded!!! •••

This series must be read in order. The first book is Stormrise : Special Edition. The second book is Stormrage. The third book is Stormwind. The fourth book is Shadowstorm. The fifth book is Raven. The sixth book is Storm. This is the seventh book. I can't wait to read the next one!

It may be childish... But Aspen can't take it anymore! Loving Raven... Being IN LOVE with Raven... And never knowing for sure how SHE feels is just too much! Becoming Raven's friend and Familiar is both the best and worst thing that has ever happened to her. Plagued by self doubt, fear, and indecision, Aspen NEEDS a break... So she leaves Chicago (and Raven) behind to get some much needed clarity. Working in a dive Hunter's truckstop/diner/motel doesn't really let her use her college degree much... But it gives her plenty of time to think and a place to stay. These Hunters are good people and she even makes a new friend Jynx. Everything changes when she finds the new guest dead from... Well she isn't really sure. Can she and Jynx get to the bottom of who or what killed the man? Should she call Raven for help? Or just forget that something is odd about the way he died? Can she go up against big bads still ... Without Raven? And what should she do about Raven? Or will she get herself and Jynx killed making it a moot point?

***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy dark urban paranormal fantasy with an incredible snarky heroine who never gives up or gives in when pursuing justice in all forms and filled with action, adventure, mystery, intrigue, suspense, thrills and a dash of romance and plenty of horror laced with humor :)
