Review: As Red as Blood

As Red as Blood As Red as Blood by Salla Simukka
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Becoming Her Namesake

This series must be read in order. This is the first book.

Lumikki was a solitary child who lived a tortured and cruel existence hidden by the practice of speak no evil as that would make it real. All her life she has felt alone and out of place. Now she is finally able to escape her past and move away to go to a prestigious art high school. Living alone is almost exactly as she had always dreamed. She no longer has to pretend ... She just keeps to herself and pretends nothing could ever be wrong. Being named after Snow White has never ever helped her. She does not even resemble the fairytale character we in the least... But then one day she accidentally gets involved in something so strange she feels she might well have accidentally become a character in a fairytale. Will she figure out what is really going on? Is she really making friends for the first time ever? How did her life become this way? Will she ever figure out the secrets of her past?

This is a dark and suspenseful book about a girl with too much curiosity and a fairytale name. Before you know it you are sucked into the story until up is down! A very complex plot and intricate characters will keep you guessing right up until the end! I can't wait to read the next book As White As Snow!!!

***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who lime their fairytales twisted and dark with only hints of the supernatural :)

***Not for the homophobic or closed minded***
